We had to say goodbye to Avis-Woozie today. I think my heart will break with the ache of missing her. I got to cuddle with her in the closet penthouse this morning and she curled up along my arms and went on her side and purred and kneaded and even touched my face twice. She was so very, very special and my own baby. But God certainly blessed us with eight and a half wonderful years with her. But I miss her so!

Frodo woke up on Sunday (26 Oct) morning far from fine. He was perfect on Saturday night. We thought maybe he got a cold, as Avis came down with the snufflies. But, no symptoms. Went back and forth on things and finally took him into a vet on Friday. Our vet was out of town until Tuesday, so this was somebody different. He wasn't good, but at least could look and see if it was pneumonia or something, which it wasn't. Frodo was just indifferent to everything and so tired that he hardly moved.Wouldn't eat, wouldn't really do anything. And that was strange, as he tends to be nutso man. We were thinking he had a heart attack on Saturday/Sunday night. He's had what we called seizures in his early years. But after watching Beatrice die of a heart attack this summer, we think he was having small attacks in the past. We are thinking that he might have had a bigger one on the weekend.
We took him to our vet Tuesday morning and got an x-ray. It turns out that his heart was enlarged and filling his chest cavity. You can't even see it on the x-rays. A couple of his siblings died of the same thing when they were little, so it wasn't a complete surprise. She said that it is really amazing with the remedies, as he wasn't exhibiting the signs that she should see in a cat with his condition. She said he has about a couple of months left at the most. He made it until today and went into congestive heart failure. Our vet wasn't in, so we had to take him in to another one in Mt. Vernon and have him go to sleep. Wet food just isn't the same without Frodo! He was such a personable little fellow! But, he is happy now back with his Mama and Manly. We lost Pocahontas last night. So suddenly and totally unexpected. We had been canning all day and Sis and I had just showered, dinner was almost ready to come out of the oven. Mom opened the fridge door and it squeaked, causing some of the other cats to freak out a bit. She said that Beatrice was on the birdwatching stool in the kitchen and got all confused by a little decorative statue of bunnies on the windowsill. She fell off the stool onto the floor infront of the food bowl and seemed to have a stroke or seizure of some sort. We tried giving her arnica and we were just standing there and in less than a minute she was gone. All we can think is that her bad breathing must have been a heart problem after all.
Hard to deal with her not there anymore. No more mousies. No more dishwashing frenzies. No more frenzies . . . Today was a special memorial day. The kittens turned eight years old and Harold's bomber was shot down exactly 71 years ago today. This weekend has been a very fun time in regards to Harold. On Friday, I received a card from a first cousin of his. I had written to her several weeks before, but she is about 88, so I wasn't sure if she would really remember him at all. Well, she did! Her card said that he was best friends with her brother and that I should call her, as she had too much to share to really write. So, Saturday afternoon, Mom and Sarah went up to Mansfield to do some shopping and I stayed home and called her. Oh, what a fun time! Even made up for the fact that I actually had to talk on the telephone! Not only did she remember Harold, but she remembered his family, Uncles, Grandparents and even great-uncles! So, I took notes fast and furiously and as soon as we were done talking, I ran downstairs and typed the conversation up so that I would not forget anything! This morning, I was leaving virtual flowers for the bomber crew boys on findagrave.com and when I opened Travis' memorial, I got a fabulous surprise! Someone had posted a gorgeous photo of him in his Air Corps uniform! I was so thrilled! Very fun to get on the anniversary. Also, Mom and Sarah gave me a surprise this afternoon. They bought a silver Alaska charm and had the date engraved on the back, so I can have a charm for the Boys on my bracelet. :o) Along with tax day, the Boys share today with the kittens. Our first litter of kittens was born between 5 and 9 p.m. eight years ago. >^..^< We were blessed with six and we are blessed to have three still with us. So, Happy Birthday to Avis, Iveta, and Max! We lost Monika today. What an emptiness. The felines may be happy, but I'm very sad. No more chirping at birds or when someone sneezes. . . no more asking for cheese . . . no more frenzy-ing at the food bowl . . . She was so filled with personality.

John 11: 25-26
"Jesus said unto her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die." Oh, tarry and be strong;
Tell God in prayer What is thy hidden grief; Thy secret care. Yet, if no answer come; Pray on and wait: God's time is always best; Never too late. - Mrs. O.F. Walton (The Lost Clue, 1910) Categories

There are two kinds of people - those who don't do what they want to do, so they write down in a diary about what they haven't done, and those who are too busy to write about it because they're out doing it!

'Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane? Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrible. He paws in the valley , and rejoices in his strength; he laughs at fear, and is not dismayed. With shaking and rage he races over the ground.' - Job 39
